Coffee Break 2019

We are getting excited for another year of Coffee Break to start and we hope you’ll save the date, October 3rd from 9:30-11:00. Coffee Break is a program that is run across Ontario to encourage a personal relationship with Jesus. It’s also a great way to meet and connect
with other women in all stages of life. We have a Facebook group “Sarnia Women’s Coffee Break Group” where you can tune in on what’s going on and a reminder of when we start. We can’t wait to see you there and don’t forget to bring a friend!

FROM THE REFUGEE COMMITTEE

We have received unofficial word that the new Syrian family we are sponsoring should arrive October 17.
We would like to arrange an affordable 2-bedroom apartment for them ideally as of October 15. If you know of a suitable place available in October or even November, please contact a member of the Refugee Team or a deacon. Thank you in advance for being Jesus’s hands and heart in giving this family a place to call home.

EXPLORERS

Next Sunday the Explorers class begins a new season. This class is for children in grades 4 to 7. Children who already
have a Bible, backpack and binder please remember to take them along next Sunday. Parents you might want to remind them. For those just starting you will be given your own Bible, backpack and binder next Sunday.

Nursery Coordinator Needed

The nursery at Living Hope is in need of a Nursery Coordinator.
You do not need to have children in the nursery to take this on. If you have a desire to continue to have our nursery be a fun and safe place for our little ones, this is for you.

Here is a brief outline of what the Nursery Coordinator does:
 Prepares nursery volunteer schedule and distributes to volunteers (every 2
months)
 Recruits new nursery volunteers or Mothers of the Month as required
 Maintains LHCRC Nursery Group on Facebook and uses it to communicate
new developments and expectations
 Trains new volunteers on their duties and nursery policies
 Periodically reviews toys and supplies to ensure they are in good working
order
 Maintains a clean and safe nursery
Thank you to Carly VandenEnde who has done an amazing job as Nursery Coordinator over the past number of years.
Please contact the church office to volunteer.

At GEMS Girls’ Clubs, we’re learning that we are LOVED. Period. That is what we are! Every club meeting is a special time to hang out with friends, learn the truth about who God says you are, and have a lot of fun, too! Join us and be sure to invite a friend!
Registration night is Monday, August 19 from 6:30pm-7:30pm at Living Hope CRC. Any questions contact  Renee @ reneedbouma@gmail.com

Ministry Kick Off Sunday

Sunday, September 8 at Living Hope.
Only three more weeks and we get to celebrate the start of a new church season at Living Hope.
Here is a glimpse of what the event will look like.
Immediately following the service make your way to the east side of the church for coffee and fellowship. The bouncy castle, face painting and bubble blowing stations will be ready for the children. Beverages and meat will be provided. We are asking the congregation to
contribute salads and desserts. Last names starting with A to O please bring a salad, and those starting with a P to Z please bring a dessert. If you are unable to contribute a salad or dessert please come anyway. There will be plenty of food for all. If you can, please bring your lawn chairs. We will need two spotters at a time for the Bouncy Castle, and there are three time slots to choose from. The signup sheet is on the Welcome Desk.

FROM THE REFUGEE COMMITTEE

Praise God that the family we are sponsoring from Syria has received final approval to come to Canada! We expect them
to arrive very soon. Thanks to you, we have most of the items needed to furnish their home here. If you would like to have the joy of welcoming this new family in some way, please contact a member of the Refugee Committee or a deacon.

SUNDAY SCHOOL

What a fast summer this has been and it will soon be coming to an end. The summer Sunday school class has been busy learning Bible stories and having lots of fun. The fall Sunday school program is set to start September 8th and again the time has come for us to fill our teacher schedule for the new season.

This year the children will be split into two classes. The Ponder class is for children in JK to grade 1, and the Path class is for children in grade 2 and 3.

The Ponder class will again use the Noah’s Park program which they have been using for many years with much success. It is a 3-year program that takes the children through the Bible.

The Path class will be using the Fruit of the Spirit program. This program is filled with fun ways to learn about Galatians 5:22-23. Next year they will be learning about the Ten Commandments again.

We are going to try something different this year. It has been the opinion of many that one month is too

long to commit to teaching. We will try a two week sign up. You are still welcome to sign up for a month if that is what you prefer. The sign-up sheet is outside the nursery. We need teachers starting September 8th. Please sign up today so your material can be given to you early. Younger members who would like to be helpers are encouraged to speak to Della so that they can be placed in classrooms with the children on a rotating basis. In order to be eligible to be a helper you must have be in grade 7 or older. High school students remember to bring your volunteer sheets in so you can get credit for your hours.

If you have any questions about Sunday School please feel free to contact Della Croxford at

519-330 5220 (Monday to Friday please call after 5) or dellacroxford@gmail.com. Thank you for your support of the Sunday School program.
