FELLOWSHIP DINNER

Friday, September 27 at 6 pm.
As all of Living Hope ministries are onto a new start this fall, fellowship dinners are also starting up. Our monthly dinners are a valuable ministry. Our first of the season will be a special roast beef dinner. Friends, neighbours and extended family members are welcome
as well. Please sign up at the Welcome desk or call Wilma at 519-344-7156.

LAST FRIDAY’S COFFEE FELLOWSHIP

The new season of church ministries also includes “Last Friday’s Coffee Fellowship”.
On Friday, September 27 at 10:00am, we’ll join together at Living Hope Church Fellowship hall and hear more from Nell Vrolyk and her work in Africa with the agencies assisting in the great needs of the people living there.
Bring a friend or a neighbour, and meet new friends, and enjoy the first of our monthly get-togethers.

SUNDAY SCHOOL

Ages: JK to grade 3
When: Sunday mornings following the “children’s blessing”
Contact Person:Della Croxford 519-330-5220

The fall Sunday school program is set to start September 8th.
This year the children will be split into two classes. The Ponder class is for children in JK to grade 1, and the Path class is for children in
grade 2 and 3.
The Ponder class will again use the Noah’s Park program which they have been using for many years with much success. It is a 3-year program that takes the children through the Bible.
The Path class will be using the Fruit of the Spirit program. This program is filled with fun ways to learn about Galatians 5:22-23. Next year they will be learning about the Ten Commandments again.
This year we will be trying a two week sign up for teachers. You are still welcome to sign up for a month if that is what you prefer.
Younger members who would like to be helpers are encouraged to speak to Della so that they can be placed in classrooms with the children on a rotating basis. In order to be eligible to be a helper you must be in grade 7 or older. High school students remember to bring your
volunteer sheets in so you can get credit for your hours.
All class and teacher info is posted outside of the nursery. If you have any questions about Sunday School please feel free to contact Della Croxford at 519-330-5220 (Monday to Friday please call after 5) or dellacroxford@gmail.com.

Faith Formation

Ages: High School
When: Wednesday evenings, 6:30 to 8:15 p.m.
Contact Person: Pastor Mark 519-331-5711

A new season is upon us and once again we look forward to our “Faith Formation” nights with our youth. The format for this coming
season is similar to last year. We will meet every other Wednesday starting at 6:30 pm for pizza and conversation. After this we will engage
together in our lesson for the evening. We should conclude around 8:15 pm.
As part of the on-going transition at Living Hope from Sunday School to Explorers and then Faith Formation classes, this year we will not
have a separate Grade 7/8 class on Wednesday nights. Grade 7 has been added into the Explorers class on Sunday mornings and by
next year we also hope to have grade 8 added to that program. Current grade 8 students are welcome to attend Faith Formation, however, if
they continue to be involved in the GEMS and Cadet programs we understand that this may be their “night out” for church activities. We
leave it up to the discretion of parents to decide.
Our plan is to have 7 sessions from September to December and another 8 sessions from January to April.
Youth Group:
Although each Faith Formation night is a “youth activity”, there may be certain nights or other days when an extra activity is scheduled. We will keep you informed as the year progresses.

Explorers

Ages: Grades 4 to 7
When: Sunday mornings following the sermon.
Contact Person: Linda VanBarneþeld 519-869-8858

We look forward to a new season of Explorers at Living Hope which will begin on Sunday, September 8. As you may know, Explorers is an
educational program designed to help our children move from attending children’s Sunday School to joining in with the rest of the congregation in Sunday morning worship. In order to help them feel connected and engaged with worship (and in particular the preaching of God’s Word) the Explorers program aims to teach our children how to listen and learn from the sermon.
At Living Hope the Word of God is at the heart of our worship. Learning to hear and know ourselves in light of the gospel is essential for us as followers of Jesus Christ and citizens of his New Creation. May we teach our children well to hear and follow the way of Jesus.
We will meet each Sunday through the coming season except:
• October 13 (Thanksgiving weekend)
• December 29
• January 5
• March 15 (Spring Break)
• March 22 (Spring Break)
• April 12 (Easter Sunday)
• Our schedule will conclude on May 10.
Ordinarily the class will continue approximately 10 minutes later than the conclusion of the worship service. Please refrain from “knocking on the door” until dismissal because this is interruptive to the class. Thanks for your cooperation

Coffee Break 2019

We are getting excited for another year of Coffee Break to start and we hope you’ll save the date, October 3rd from 9:30-11:00. Coffee Break is a program that is run across Ontario to encourage a personal relationship with Jesus. It’s also a great way to meet and connect
with other women in all stages of life. We have a Facebook group “Sarnia Women’s Coffee Break Group” where you can tune in on what’s going on and a reminder of when we start. We can’t wait to see you there and don’t forget to bring a friend!

FROM THE REFUGEE COMMITTEE

We have received unofficial word that the new Syrian family we are sponsoring should arrive October 17.
We would like to arrange an affordable 2-bedroom apartment for them ideally as of October 15. If you know of a suitable place available in October or even November, please contact a member of the Refugee Team or a deacon. Thank you in advance for being Jesus’s hands and heart in giving this family a place to call home.
