As you know the province of Ontario is slowly re-opening as the Covid-19 pandemic becomes less severe. At this stage churches have been given permission to open at a 30% capacity. The Ministry Board and Council of Living Hope have reviewed the rules concerning re-opening and will continue to monitor the situation as it develops. At this time, due to the high numbers of infection that we have experienced within our congregation and the restrictive measures that would need to be in place to re-open in a safe and responsible way, we believe that we are not yet in a position to resume worship services in our building. We pray for wisdom and patience as we look ahead and anticipate the day when we can gather and worship fully in a way that honors God and brings a blessing to us his people. In this time of waiting you are asked to remember your commitment to Jesus Christ and our congregation by: regularly tuning in to our weekly services online, giving faithfully, praying for one another and reaching out to one another. In Pastor Mark’s sermon series from the letter of I Peter we are reminded
of the gospel and our hope. I Peter 1:3 says, “Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.” May God continue to bless all of us at Living Hope!

“The deacons are to represent and administer the mercy of Christ to the needy.” To help fulfill this mandate the Deacons will hold a “Drive and Drop” food drive from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. Wednesday, June 17. The Deacons challenge every household to purchase items totaling 20% of your weekly grocery bill, place them in the trunk of your car, and then on June 17 drive to the east entrance of the church, pop your trunk, let the Deacons take the donated items out in a safe manner and you can be on your way. Let’s collectively bless our community with non-perishable groceries spreading Christ’s love in a tangible way.

There is no question about it! We are LOVED. Period. That is what we are! We learned that God’s Word tells us the Truth The Gems had opportunity to sing praises, dig in His Word, and craft or do badge work where they could learn something fun and new. A special thanks to the leaders and volunteers for their work with the girls throughout the season. Thank you GEMS Grown-Ups for sharing your girls with us. Thank you church community for your support in this wonderful ministry.
***GEMS check out gemsonthego.org or join an Instagram account @gemsonthego It’s a new initiative for girls to have friendship, faith, and fun at a distance! Girls can also participate in the The Go Show which is broadcast daily at 3pm ET.

Ways to Donate

In the absence of church services, we suggest alternate ways of giving to causes normally covered by Sunday offerings:
1. Print and fill out the PARS for and return it to the church mail slot.
2. Write a cheque listing the cause(s) you would like to support. Drop your envelope in the church mail slot or mail it to the church office (1281 Exmouth St. Sarnia, ON N7S 1W9). The church mail slot can be found north of the east entrance doors.
3. We have set up an Interac E-transfer option for you to donate to the Church budget. To use this option please follow these steps:
-Log into your online or mobile banking app and go to E-transfer.
-Select the account from which you want to send funds.
-Choose or add Living Hope CRC as a recipient and then include our email: livinghopeoffering@gmail.com
-Enter the amount and hit submit.
-The funds will be automatically deposited into the Living Hope Budget account. If you wish your donation to go to another cause, you may indicate this in the message.
-E-transfers will be tracked and included with your year-end donation slips.
-You may also place your donation into your regular weekly offering envelope and put them all in the offering plate when church services resume. Donations will be allocated as per the weekly envelope in which they are submitted.
The list of offerings scheduled for the next weeks:
•March 29: Ministry Shares – Canadian ministries
•April 5: Diaconate

Inn of the Good Shepherd Food Bank is teaming up with the London Road Shopping Centre for a food drive Friday, March 27 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Put your food donation in your trunk, drive into the plaza parking lot, put your car in park, pop your trunk, your food donation will be removed and you’ll be on your way. This is a small way that LHCRC can continue to be a blessing to our community.

For the time being the church office will be open Tuesday’s and Thursday’s from 9 am to 1 pm. For your health and safety, we suggest that you call or email the office rather than visit in person. Communications will be sent out electronically and via mail to those who don’t have email. Please encourage those who have not yet given their email address to the office to do so.

The Prayer Chain is up and running again. The volunteers will find the guidelines and the list of participants in their mail slot. Please put them in your notebook. If you have any joys or concerns that you would like the prayer chain or prayer team to pray for, please feel free to contact Susan Schouten.
